Anna Kostenko was born in 1975 in Kiev, Ukraine and has lived and worked in Krakow, Poland since 1991. She is a graduate of The Academy of Fine Arts, Krakow where she studied painting from 1993 to 1998. She has exhibited successfully with the Jorgensen Gallery for many years, her first solo exhibition at the gallery, being in 1999. Her fascination with different cultures has led to extensive travels which inspire her paintings, in the catalogue to her last solo exhibition at the gallery she says “……I feel very happy to celebrate cultural diversity in my paintings and hope that the viewers will experience the same joy as I did creating them.” Anna Kostenko’s paintings are noted for a simplification of forms, which creates a powerful visual statement, which is underscored by her use of vibrant, shimmering colour with strong contrasts. Anna has had her paintings exhibited internationally in Poland, France, Germany, Ireland and Spain.
