Donald Teskey, RHA
Donald Teskey is an Irish artist from Limerick, who is renowned for his atmospheric and tonal Irish landscape paintings, which evoke the vitality and energy of nature, along the west coast of Ireland. His paintings, with their measured, but gestural brushstrokes and balanced arrangements of light, shade and tone, combine a draughtman's eye for illustrating a recognizable locale, with a painters eye for evoking the inherent spirit of a place. This results in paintings which are, at one and the same time realistic depictions and abstract compositions, which never fail to draw the viewer in.
Throughout his career as an artist, Teskey has received numerous awards in recognition for his paintings, including awards from the Royal Ulster Academy, the Royal Hibernian Academy, the EVA Exhibition and the Claremorris Open Exhibition. Donald Teskey has a broad international reputation as an artist and has had solo exhibitions in the U.K., Canada, the U.S.A., France, Germany, Finland, China and South Africa. His paintings are in many corporate, public and private art collections throughout the world and in his native Ireland. His paintings are also in the collections of the Arts Council of Ireland and the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
