Emile Louis Picault was a 19th century French sculptor, who worked in the neo-classical tradition, and produced bronze sculpture based on allegorical, mythological and patriotic themes. He studied sculpture under Louis Royer in Paris and first exhibited his bronze sculpture at the Paris Salon in 1863. Throughout a long and successful career as a sculptor, he produced over five hundred individual bronzes, and his work can now be seen in art museums throughout France, including the Chambery Museum, the Clermont-Ferrand Museum, the Maubeuge Museum and the Troyes Museum in Paris.
