INTERIORS EXHIBITION

February 7th - 25th 2006

The art of the Interior from turn of the century Dutch & French painters to contemporary. The human world is the subject of the interior; it is a construction of man. Domestic in its concerns, the interior represents the pleasures of familial ties and the pleasures of possessions. Our gallery artists continue the tradition of presenting that frozen moment for the viewers' attention and consideration.

The esteemed art critic Brian Sewell says of his work : ‘Petley is a painter whose interests lie in light, shade and colour, in the tactile quality of paint itself – impasto like refrigerated butter, flowing like melted ice cream, transparent, translucent or opaque as the occasion demands.’
