JOE DUNNEFebruary 13th - March 3rd 2007
The inspiration for Joe Dunne's paintings comes from his close observation of his environment, both urban and rural in which he delights in capturing the interplay of light and shadows which transform plain surroundings into something more poetic. He describes his paintings which are abstract or semi-abstract in style as being analagous in their composition to a piece of music containing rhythm, tone, form, space and colour and feels they are more successful if they touch on or reveal some sense of mystery. It brings to mind Paul Klee's desire to be able to improvise freely on the keyboard of colours using the row of watercolours in his paintbox.
