Joe Moran is an Irish sculptor from Dublin who creates mostly abstract and semi-abstract sculpture in bronze and other metals. He first found an interest in sculpture during the 1970's while working as a welder in the Dublin docklands. Throughout his career he has received many commissions for public sculpture in Ireland such as his piece "Birds in Hand" at the Ballyfermot Public Library, Dublin, "Family Unit" in Fairview Park in Dublin and "Icarus" at Dublin Airport. His international commissions include "Reclining Figure" in Petronova, Russia and "Family Unit II" in L' orient, France. His most recent commission is a portrait bust of Irish man, Patrick O' Connell, who as manager, guided the Spanish football team, Real Betis to their only La Liga title in 1935. It is intended that the finished bronze bust of O'Connell will be housed in the Real Betis museum, beside their championship trophy.
