Jorgensen Art Gallery Dublin

Ib Jorgensen, one of Ireland’s leading haute couture fashion designers, established his Irish art gallery, Jorgensen Fine Art on the upper floor of his fashion salon on Molesworth Street in Dublin, in 1992. On closing down his fashion salon, he expanded his art gallery, exhibiting paintings and sculptures on both floors of this elegant Dublin city centre Georgian premises. Jorgensen Fine Art quickly established itself as one of Ireland’s leading fine art galleries, specializing in exhibitions of paintings and sculpture by contemporary Irish, English and European artists, and exhibitions of late 19th and early 20th century art from some of the major Irish, English and European artists of that period. Important Irish artists shown at the gallery included Walter Osborne, Sir John Lavery, Paul Henry, Grace Henry, Roderic O'Conor, Mary Swanzy, William Leech, Gerard Dillon, George Campell, Tony O'Malley, William Scott, Camille Souter, and Charles Brady. Major continental European artists that were exhibited at the gallery included artists such as Carl Wilhelm Holsoe, Peter Ilsted, George Clausen, Joan Miro and Paul Signac.

Over the years, Jorgensen Fine Art moved premises a number of times, and in 2014, due to rapidly increasing rents in Dublin city centre, Ib Jorgensen decided to close the gallery's city centre premises, to concentrate on private art sales and on art and antique fairs in Dublin. However, in Summer 2016, he re-opened as the Jorgensen Gallery, a salon style art gallery, once again, in an elegant Georgian building on Molesworth Street, Dublin, the same street, where the gallery was first established.

At the Jorgensen Gallery we now exhibit a wide variety of paintings by a selection of contemporary Irish and European artists, including Alexey Krasnovsky, Allan Madsen, Clement McAleer, Martin Mooney, Dale Pring MacSweeney, Donald Teskey, Camille Souter and Maria Levinge. We also have a very extensive range of contemporary bronze sculpture at the gallery by artists such as Vadim Tuzov, Catherine Greene, Kevin Gaines, Fiona Smith,  Donnacha Treacy, Anna Campbell and Peter Killeen.

Alongside our selection of contemporary art, we exhibit paintings by well known Irish artists from the late 19th/mid 20th century, such as Walter Osborne, Mildred Anne Butler, Edwin Hayes, Norman Garstin, Sarah Purser, George Campbell, Tony O'Malley, Basil Blackshaw, Neil Shawcross and William Scott. English and Continental European artists featured in the gallery currently include Georges Braque, Constantin Kluge, Enzo Plazotta, Frank Avray Wilson, Bernard Lorjou and Anthony Palliser.

Unique among contemporary Irish art galleries, the Jorgensen Gallery also sells a selection of antique furniture, lamps, vases and collectibles. You can see the full range of our selection of antiques and collectibles here - Jorgensen Gallery Antiques & Collectibles. In additon to our exhibitions in our gallery premises in Dublin city centre, we participate in annual art and antiques fairs in Dublin, such as the annual Irish Antique Dealer's Association Fair at the Royal Dublin Society and the Vue Contemporary Art Fair at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin.

In recognition of Ib Jorgensen's contribution to the world of Irish fashion, the National Museum of Ireland are currently staging a major retrospective exhibition of Ib Jorgensen's fashion designs. View this exhibition here Ib Jorgensen - A Fashion Retrospective
